In my 13 years of teaching experience, I have never had a student come to me and say, "Ben, I want to hit the ball shorter."
We are always impressed with powerful players like Tiger Woods, Davis Love III, Phil Mickelson, and etc.
Following are few things you can do to increase your clubhead speed for more power.
- GET IN SHAPE!
Tiger and Duval have proven to the golf world that working out will help your power game.
- WATCH YOUR TEMPO
For most novice players, they will have the tendency to get little quick when they try to hit the ball farther.
Make sure you are in balance so you can hit the ball on the sweet spot more consistently.
- WIDER STANCE
To create more power, we need stronger foundation.
Also, this will allow the swing arc to increase in size.
This will give more time for the clubhead to increase speed.
- MAKE SURE THE CLUBFACE IS SQUARE
The most common power leak is open clubface. Make sure your grip is correct and you are releasing the clubface through the impact zone
- CLUBS AND BALLS
The modern technology has given us great advantage to hit the ball farther.
Check with your local PGA Professionals that you are using correct equipment.
I hope these tips will allow you to out-drive your partners and create more opportunities for lower score.
