Hiking on Maui

Haleakala Crater - Maui Eco-Adventures HALEAKALA CRATER HIKE: This is a scenic drive up the summit of Haleakala which is a 10,023 foot summit above Maui's coast. The volcano at Haleakala National Park has not erupted for more than 200 years. Haleakala has enormous cinder cones stretching through the floor of the caldera which are drop-dead gorgeous. The tallest cinder cone, Pu'u O Maui, reaches 620 feet from the basin floor. You will hike into the moonscape of Haleakala caldera from the summit to the cinder cone Kalua O Ka O'o. This is a 5 mile hike at altitude; the rating is strenuous because there is less oxygen than at sea level. While you are at Haleakala you will see spectacular views of the north and south shores of Maui and the central valley and on most days the Big Island of Hawai'i is visible. You will learn about Maui's culture, history and even a little geology. There are flora and fauna on this hike found nowhere else on earth. Haleakala is a National Pak that is nearly 30,000 acres. It can be cold up there with temperatures at the summit ranging from 32 to 65 degrees F. Included: hotel pick-up, continental breakfast, fresh fruit, muffins, and lunch/fresh deli sandwiches Turkey or Veggie, Crudits & dips, Island Juices, water. You can add on a 45 minute helicopter flight of Maui's majestic rainforests & waterfalls to this specialty hike.

Hana Hike - Maui Eco-Adventures HANA WATERFALL HIKE "THIS IS A FULL DAY" This is a driving/hiking tour in which you will drive the cliff-hugging road to Hana. There are 617 turns and 56 one-lane bridges from Pa'ia to Hana. You will take a rainforest hike through a bamboo forest that ends at a 400 foot waterfall, Waimoku Falls. You will hike 2 miles in and 2 miles out, making the entire hike 4 miles. You will hike under a dense tropical canopy, through a giant bamboo forest and past beautiful waterfalls as we make our way to your lunch site at the base of a 400+ foot waterfall that you can hardly fit in your camera viewfinder. Your knowledgeable guide will point out the exotic plants and fruits and local history of the area. You will see the seven cascading pools of Ohe'o gulch (Ohe'o Pools) as they converge with the ocean. You will learn about Maui's culture and history. Total driving time for this trip is 6 hours. Expect to spend ~ 11 to 12 hours on this tour. Rainforest/Waterfall - Maui Eco-Adventures Rainforest/Waterfall: Private Property access to Waihe'e Valley is exclusive to Maui Eco-Adventures. This is a five mile hike round trip. You will hike 2 miles into Waihe'e valley rainforest. At your destination there is a swimming hole and a man-made waterfall, which is part of an irrigation system in the valley. You will have lunch after swimming next to the stream. There are waterfalls in the distance and you will see exotic and native fruits and trees. The trail is covered with a green jungle canopy that stretches along a rolling streambed. You will walk by taro fields that were once farmed by ancient Hawaiians.
